SUMMER FUN - 2017
Run to the Rescue 5K for ASPCA grant was one for the books!
With great anticipation, runners, walkers, horse rescuers galore and the friends and family of Drifter's Hearts of Hope gathered at the Colorado Horse Park, April 22nd.
The 5k run had a phenomenal turn-out, with over a hundred participants and many wonderful sponsors! Even the Denver Broncos cheerleaders got in on the action!
This first ever ASPCA Help a Horse Day Event was the brain child of Andrea Mena, an active volunteer for DHOH. With lots of hard work and preparation, Andrea, Jacqui and the team pulled off an event that will not soon be forgotten. The run over horse jumps at the Colorado Horse Park put DHOH in the running for a $25,000 ASPCA grant, which would ultimately help further their mission and work in rescuing horses.
R2R was a true success and a fun-filled day that positively impacted not only the awareness for slaughter-bound, abused and neglected horses, but also left a hoof print on the hearts of those in the town of Parker, Colorado.
Once again, we thank our sponsors, participants, and the wonderful horse community in Colorado who pulled off one unforgettable weekend! We couldn't have done it without you and look forward to hosting more 5Ks in the future!
WE'RE HAVING A BABY!
You may remember Jemima Puddle Duck from her rescue in January 2017. Recently, we came to learn that miss Jemima Puddle Duck is in foal!
The DHOH kids are thrilled to have another baby success story. Sometimes rescue comes in twos and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to help this sweet mare through her pregnancy.
Jemima is a gorgeous paint with blue eyes, and she will be available for adoption to the right home once her baby is weaned. Be sure to follow her progress on our blog and facebook pages so you'll get the latest updates!
Thank you to all who joined us for Jemima's baby shower on April 30th! We had a blast!
