Jean Kirshner - Co-Founder & Youth Events/Activities Host
Jean has worked with children who have special needs for over 20 years. She worked on the DHOH Board of Directors for 2 full years, contributing by planning and faciliating all of the youth events for the organization. Jean received her Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado and is the parent of a teen with special needs. Throughout the past 20 years, she has witnessed many wonderful people serve individuals with special needs, but noticed that kids with special needs lacked the gift of serving others, themselves.
When Jean's daughter Bella had the opportunity to serve rescue horses, she watched a change take place in her 13 year old daughter, as Bella grew and realized a potential she had never known.
Jean and the other members of DHOH now see the power of the experience for all teens who have the opportunity to rescue and work with these magnificent creatures. Together, both the kids and the rescue horses are able to lift each other.
Today Jean works closely with DHOH by hosting the renonwed "cookie bake nights" and helping with various other DHOH kids functions.
