The Annie Project was created to offer Dude and Guest Ranches a new option for retiring horses. The Annie Project was born in June, 2017, through the relationship between Drifter’s Hearts of Hope, C Lazy U Ranch and The Colorado Dude and Guest Ranch Association. Read Annie's Story here
The Mission of the program is to give dude and guest ranches a new option for retiring their horses...an option that will keep them safe from auction and out of danger of entering the slaughter pipeline.
Our goal is to create a lasting, symbiotic relationship with all members of the CDGRA (and eventually the NDGRA) and have the opportunity to find these deserving horses loving and forever homes in their retirement/transitional years. In exchange for the horses, DHOH will offer participating ranches a tax-deductible donation receipt per horse as well as social media and website promotion.
The Annie Project is a sustainable program which not only helps the horses, but also helps the ranches!

How You Can Get Involved
To make The Annie Project a success, we need folks to care about what happens to dude and guest ranch horses once they are no longer useful to the ranch. Please patronize Annie Project Approved Dude and Guest Ranches, encourage your family and friends to do the same, and make your choices known on social media!
As an active participant of the Annie Project, the participating Ranch and DHOH adhere to the following guidelines.

Annie Project In The News
Many of our volunteers, as well as our followers, grew up reading horse magazines (and still do today!). We spent countless hours reading and learning, and trying out new tips and tricks on our wonderfully patient mounts. Fast forward to today, Drifter's Hearts of Hope has found its way into quite a few of those magazines!
A huge thank you to everyone featuring our amazing Annie Project horses, partners, and adopters. We are so appreciative for the exposure and look forward to seeing the growth of the Annie Project in the coming years.
